Computer Science Labs


The department operates labs in the Love building and the Carothers building. Computer Science students, faculty, and staff may request after-hours and weekend access to these buildings by registering their FSUCard info with the Systems Group in MCH208.

About the Majors Lab

The Majors Lab (room LOV025 located inside room LOV006 in the basement) is available for Computer Science majors. On a space-available basis, other students currently taking a CS course may also use the lab. A valid CS account is required for access.

Thirty six computers are available to students. They are Dell Optiplex 990 with Core i5 second edition CPU, 8GB RAM, NVidia GeForce GT430 graphic card, 1TB SATA hard drive, and 24-inch widescreen ultrasharp LCD display. All computers are dual boot to Windows 10 and Linux Mint 16.

Also available is a laser printer (named ‘majors’) and a scanner with top seeder.

Summer 2019 Schedule

The Lab usually opens during the second week of classes:

9am to 10pm Mon – Fri
10am to 9pm Sat and Sun

The Lab is closed on Holidays, during Spring Break, and between semesters.

Summer Holidays: Memorial Day (May 27th); Independence Day (July 4 -5th).

About the Grad Lab

The Grad Lab is located in LOV 104-A and is always open to graduate students. Access is restricted via a swipe card system using the FSUCard. In order to have your FSUCard provisioned, please stop by the System Group’s office in room MCH208.

The Grad Lab features 7 Dell Optiplex 980 computers with Core i5 CPU, 8GB RAM, NVidia GeForce GT330 graphic card, 1TB SATA hard drive, 23 inch widescreen ultra sharp LCD display. All computers are dual boot to Windows 10 and Linux Mint 16. The lab also has a laser printer, named gradlab. The Grad Lab is a more private environment than the Majors Lab.
